You Can Be Free In Christ

Our hope is that this booklet will help lead you to freedom from sin, which only Jesus can bring. To know Jesus as Lord and Savior is to be "Free in Christ." This without a doubt, is the greatest freedom of all. Please know that you are welcome to grow in your new found freedom with us at Broadway Baptist Church, 2500 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky. We live in a day when slavery is no longer a legal or acceptable way of life. Many years ago in the United States, slavery was a real and difficult issue that was experienced by its Black population. The stories, books, movies, and plays that have conveyed the life of a slave picture for us how demoralizing it must have been. Isn't it great to know that everyone can live free from slavery today! The fact is, there are still many today who are in need of being set free! There is a bondage that is still enslaving the lives of people today. It is the bondage of sin. No one has escaped its grasp. This invisible taskmaster s

Jesus said "I AM THE WAY!"

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:1-6). Is Jesus The ONLY Way to Heaven? * Absolutely! Investigate The Claims of Christ! o Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said: + "...I am the way..." (John 14:6). Jesus is not a way, but "the way" to heaven! + "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved..." (John 10:9). Jesus is not a door, but

The Golden Compass

Wisdom needed at the movie theatres this Christmas ‘I'm trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief.' Golden Compass Poster So said Philip Pullman, author of Northern Lights, which was renamed The Golden Compass in North America and is being released at the movies this December. Pullman supports the British Humanist Association and is an Honorary Associate of the National Secular Society1, an organization in Britain that campaigns for the withdrawal of subsidies to religious schools, the end of tax exemption for churches and argues that state sponsorship of religions encroaches upon the human right for freedom of religion2. The Golden Compass features young orphan Lyra Belacqua going on a rescue mission with the aid of a shape-shifting ‘daemon' and a golden compass. The compass or ‘alethiometer' is a device with supernatural clairvoyant powers that Lyra learns to read throughout the novel. Phrased by some as a ‘direct rebuttal' of The Chronicles of Narnia by C

PARABLE OF THE SOWER

Mt13:3-23, Mk 4:3-20, Lk 8:5-15, Mt13:37-43 Jesus also warns us about True & False Conversion in the "The Parable Of The Sower". In this Story Jesus tells us about a Farmer (Jesus) who went out to Plant some Seeds (God's Word) in His Field. The Seeds fall on 4 Different Soils (Conditions of People's Hearts): Hard, Rocky, Thorny, & Good Soil. 4 RESPONSES TO HEARING GOD'S WORD— WHICH ONE OF THESE ARE YOU? TOP 1 - HARD GROUND They Reject Jesus & Think they Understand God's Word, but Don't. (Mk 4:12) The Seed (God's Word) falls on Hard Ground (Deaf Ears). Satan Steals God's Word (Lk 8:12), & he Aims Fiery Darts of Pride & Anger at them (Eph 6:16) when they hear about Jesus, & God's Word. (Acts 26:9-11) • They Don't Resist Satan. (Jas 4:7) They're Spiritually Blind. (2Cor 4:3-4) Hearts are Hard. (Heb 3:7-19) • They're Unsaved, but think they're Saved. (Mt 15:8-9) Bible Is Boring & Seems Foolish. (1Cor 1:

GOD'S 10 COMMANDMENTS By Martha Mac

EXODUS 20:3-17 1 - YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER "GODS" BEFORE ME Is Money, Fame, People, TV, Internet, Things, Pleasures more important than God? (1 Jn 2:15-17) Isa 43:10-11 "I alone am God. There is NO other God, there never has been and there never will be." THE GOSPEL

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13 ) The word "Gospel" means "good news." It is the good news of how you can have a loving, personal relationship with God that gives meaning and purpose to this life, and, at the same time, gives you the certainty that you will spend eternity with Him in heaven. Many people today claim that they are preaching the Gospel, yet they all seem to have different messages. Say a Sinner's prayer. Pray to receive Christ. Repent and be baptized! Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ! Come forward and confess Christ publicly! Ask Jesus to come into your heart! Put Christ on the throne of your life! Make Christ the Lord of your life! Make a personal commitment to Christ! Turn from your sins to God! Why do we hear so many different messages today? Is there more than
