A FISHERMAN MISLED!

SHE WAS thirty eight foot long, painted blue and white and could hold twenty tons of fish. The three year old Crystal Sea was a seiner fishing vessel skippered by Sandy Feltham. Feltharn had named her from an old-time hymn which pictures the saints in heaven “gathered by the crystal sea,” a scene of calmness and delight. Little did Feltham know that his strangely~named boat would be the stage of the most territying experience ofhis life! It was March when the Crystal Sea put out to sea from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. While at Harbour Grace her wooden hull was partially coated with fiberglass. With crewmembers, Stan Diamond and Cal Oldford, Feltham sailed up the east coast towards Bonavista Bay to fish for herring, The sea was calm and a balmy south wind blew softly.
