Evangelism by Roy Leith

In this world of technology, we are told to look at WWW. As we consider the subject of evangelism the WWW. is helpful. I know WWW. means World Wide Web, however as far as Christian evangelism is concerned WWW could stand for.

The What of Christian evangelism.

The Who of Christian evangelism.

The Why of Christian evangelism.

The What of Christian evangelism? I use the words Christian evangelism because there are others who evangelise. Example, the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses etc. Christian evangelism is witnessing to others the good news of Jesus Christ. The good news of his life, death and resurrection as Paul puts it in one Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Christian evangelism is declaring/sharing this message about Jesus Christ that offers hope, forgiveness, salvation, and abundant life.

Hope - 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Forgiveness - Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins.

Salvation - Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Abundant Life- John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The Who of Christian evangelism. We are reminded by the Apostle Peter to always be ready to give an answer why we have such hope.1 Peter 3:15 … be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

We who are Christians have the responsibility to tell people why we have this great hope, that Jesus Christ gives us. The great danger today, in church life, is

the mindset that the minister of the church is the one who has the responsibility of evangelism. However, that was never the intention of Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Surely this verse teaches us the responsibility of evangelism goes much further than the minister of the church, all who believe have the responsibility to share the greatest story ever told about Jesus and his love. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Let us remember to always speak the truth and to speak that truth in love. Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love…

The Why of Christian evangelism.

Why should we share the message of Jesus with others?

If we believe that all have sinned, we must share the message of Jesus for this message offers the hope, forgiveness, and salvation that we all need.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

If we really believe what Jesus said in John 3:18 why would we not take every opportunity to talk about Jesus. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Peter told us that God does not want any to perish. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. How will people know that they need to repent from sin and turn to Jesus for salvation if we do not tell them. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul declares. Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? It is our responsibility who believe to tell people the wonderful message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who is truly the saviour, the only saviour who can transform lives by his power.

It was Jesus himself who declared but he was the way, the truth, and the life.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus is the way so we can be saved. Jesus is the truth so we can be sure. Jesus is the life so we can be satisfied.

May we be good witnesses for him, not just by what we say, but by how we live. The greatest story ever told is about Jesus and His love. Go and share it.

Medical theories on the cause of death in crucifixion Matthew W Maslen and Piers D Mitchell

INTRODUCTION Crucifixion may be defined as a method of execution by which a person is hanged, usually by their arms, from a cross or similar structure until dead. It has been used in many parts of the world and in many time periods; but is perhaps best known today as a cruel method of social control and punishment in the Roman Empire around 2000 years ago 1 (pp 22-3). In modern times, the medical profession has shown considerable interest in crucifixion. The typical aim of articles by this group has been to determine how crucified individuals actually died; and they often focus on the case of Jesus of Nazareth. Since Stroud's book of 1847, 2 at least 10 different theories have been proposed ( Table 1 ), and many more articles have been published suggesting various combinations of these theories. The 10 examples referenced in Table 1 have been chosen merely as representing the wide difference of opinion in the published literature: it is not an exhaustive lis

What is TULIP in Calvinism? by Matt Slick

The TULIP of Calvinism is the acronym which represents the five primary points which represent Calvinism : Total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irresistible grace, and Perseverance of the saints. Hence, they are called the five points of Calvinism. The five points "emerged from the Synod of Dort (1618– 19)." 1 "The system of Calvinism adheres to a very high view of scripture and seeks to derive its theological formulations based solely on God’s word. It focuses on God’s sovereignty, stating that God is able and willing by virtue of his omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, to do whatever He desires with His creation. It also maintains that within the Bible are the following teachings: That God, by His sovereign grace predestines people into salvation; that Jesus died only for those predestined; that God regenerates the individual where he is then able and wants to c
