A FISHERMAN MISLED!

SHE WAS thirty eight foot long, painted blue and white
and could hold twenty tons of fish. The three year old Crystal Sea
was a seiner fishing vessel skippered by Sandy Feltham. Feltharn had
named her from an old-time hymn which pictures the saints in heaven
“gathered by the crystal sea,” a scene of calmness and delight. Little did
Feltham know that his strangely~named boat would be the stage of the
most territying experience ofhis life!

It was March when the Crystal Sea put out to sea from Harbour Grace,
Newfoundland. While at Harbour Grace her wooden hull was partially
coated with fiberglass. With crewmembers, Stan Diamond and Cal
Oldford, Feltham sailed up the east coast towards Bonavista Bay to fish
for herring, The sea was calm and a balmy south wind blew softly. It
was a lovely day, even though there was some local bay ice and some
harbours were frozen. Sandy assured his crew that in twelve hours they
would be in Bonavista.

Eight hours later, a north-west wind began to blow and the temperature
dropped rapidly. Off the shore of Catalina, Feltham and his little crew
experienced ninety mph winds as twenty-foot waves hit the port bow
of their little ship. They sailed north toward Gull Island and Cape
Bonavista. By Spiller’s Cove, the severe tossing of the Crystal Sea caused
the ship’s stove to turn upside down, spewing fiery oil into the galley.
A sleeping bag was used to smother the flames. The name “Spillers
Cove” almost seemed like a somber prediction! In desperation, Feltham
radioed the Canadian Coast Guard in St.John's to check on ice
conditions in Bonavista Harbour, which now lay three miles distant.
The Coast Guard told him to stand by while they checked.

“IM GOING DOWN! DOWN! DOWN!”
It seemed like an eternity, but fifteen minutes later the Coast Guard
replied - “The harbour is completely free of ice.” If only the Crystal
Sea could endure for three more miles, they might be saved! By this
time, spray was freezing on the Crystal Sea, making it top-heavy. The diesel
engine was at full throttle, but the little vessel tossed like a cork on the
angry North Atlantic Ocean. Stan Diamond was in the chain locker sick;
Feltham was desperate. Being a Christian however, he told his companions,
“If this boat goes down, my soul goes up!" Cal Oldford, not a Christian,
and worried about his soul, cried out, “I'm not going up, I'm going down!
down! DOWN!”

Ninety minutes later, at midnight, they miraculously reached their
destinationl jutting out from the harbour was a breakwater. Fitteen foot
thick slob-ice pushed the Crystal Sea towards the rocks before the harbour
entrance. To the horror of the crew, Bonavista Harbour was frozen solid!
They had been completely misled by the Canadian Coast Guard! — not
intentionally, but nevertheless, MISLED! Stranded in the slob—ice five
hundred Feet from the breakwater, Feltham launched a distress rocket flare.
The flare burst bright red at 1,000 Feet, but the folks of Bonavista thought it
was a prank. The Crystal Sea was being pounded by ice pans (large chunks
of ice) as she heaved up and down on the huge waves and the gail winds. She
had no harbour of refuge into which to sail!

Finally, brave men from Bonavista, risking their lives, crawled to the head 0F
the breakwater. After many attempts, they managed to throw a rope to the
Crystal Sea to prevent her from being dashed to pieces on the rocks. When
the storm began to subside, they used a twentyafoot ladder to rescue the
Crystal Sea’s almost-doomed crew. The time was 4:00 A.M. The boat had
lost its expensive fiberglass coating, but three precious souls were safe!

SATANIC DECEPTION
While sailing on the Crystal Sea with Feltham as he seined For herring in
Bonavista Bay, I thought of the lesson that his terrifying experience teaches.
The Lord speaks of “Satan, which deceiveth the whole world” (Revelation
12V9). His first victim was Eve, and he caused her to doubt the truth of(God’s
spoken word (Genesis 3w1). God warns that “evil men and seducers shall
wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3vl3).
Using various pulpits today, Satan has men preaching “another gospel,” thus
blinding the minds of the hearers (2 Corinthians 4tv4;11v4). Some ofhis lies
are
(1)"Mankind is intrinsically good."God says Áll have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God"(Romans 3v23)
(2) "THERE IS NO HELL!" 'The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations the forget God" (Psalmv17).
(3) 'God is too loving to punish by fire forever."Christ reveals, "Depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire" (Matthew25v41)
(4) No one can presently know that they will be in heaven.” God disagrees stating, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life”
(1 Iohn 5v13).
(5) “One can only hope to go to heaven by doing his best.” What an enormous
lie! God contradicts this; revealing, “For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: is the gift of God: Not of Works,
lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2v8,9).
(6) “Joining church is the way to heaven.” That may help fill the collection plate, but it will
never redeem your soul! “Jesus saith  I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” []ohn 14v6).

Oh, friend, don't be deceived !  God has made a statement so great,
so Wonderful, that I think you would profit greatly by reading it.
Carefully notice What it says. '
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His‘only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
(john 3v16) '

Medical theories on the cause of death in crucifixion Matthew W Maslen and Piers D Mitchell

INTRODUCTION Crucifixion may be defined as a method of execution by which a person is hanged, usually by their arms, from a cross or similar structure until dead. It has been used in many parts of the world and in many time periods; but is perhaps best known today as a cruel method of social control and punishment in the Roman Empire around 2000 years ago 1 (pp 22-3). In modern times, the medical profession has shown considerable interest in crucifixion. The typical aim of articles by this group has been to determine how crucified individuals actually died; and they often focus on the case of Jesus of Nazareth. Since Stroud's book of 1847, 2 at least 10 different theories have been proposed ( Table 1 ), and many more articles have been published suggesting various combinations of these theories. The 10 examples referenced in Table 1 have been chosen merely as representing the wide difference of opinion in the published literature: it is not an exhaustive lis

What is TULIP in Calvinism? by Matt Slick

The TULIP of Calvinism is the acronym which represents the five primary points which represent Calvinism : Total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irresistible grace, and Perseverance of the saints. Hence, they are called the five points of Calvinism. The five points "emerged from the Synod of Dort (1618– 19)." 1 "The system of Calvinism adheres to a very high view of scripture and seeks to derive its theological formulations based solely on God’s word. It focuses on God’s sovereignty, stating that God is able and willing by virtue of his omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence, to do whatever He desires with His creation. It also maintains that within the Bible are the following teachings: That God, by His sovereign grace predestines people into salvation; that Jesus died only for those predestined; that God regenerates the individual where he is then able and wants to c

Testimony by Thomas Harron

My name is Thomas Harron and this is my testimony. I was saved on the 19 July 1998 in the Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle Church Belfast, under the ministry of Pastor James McConnell a man that I have grown to respect and love over these years under his ministry. My testimony did not begin on the night I was saved , when I look back to my youth I realize that if it had not been for GODS Grace through HIS beloved SON The LORD JESUS CHRIST I don't know where or what state I would have been in today . As Christians we have two testimonies. The first GODS Grace before we where saved, in that our previous life did not consume and destroy us before the glorious moment of our salvation through our SAVIOUR THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. And secondly HIS keeping GRACE in that he has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, HIS HOLY Word tells us HE is the Alpha and Omega the Beginning and the End, our life in and through GODS SON our SAVIOUR THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is comple
