Leonard Ravenhill was born in Leeds, England. He came to Christ at the age of 15 after the conversion of his father. At the age of 20 while working as a tailor, he answered the call of God to the ministry. He trained for Christian ministry under the saintly influence of Samuel Chadwick at Cliff College in England. Characterized by a deep life of prayer, passionate evangelistic zeal and a powerful preaching gift, his ministry drew traffic-jamming crowds in the British Isles during the 1930’s and 1940’s. His burden for souls took him all over England and different parts of Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. To the Church his message has been one of prophetic piercing repentance but with the vision and hope of genuine revival.
This definitive biography covers his entire life from birth into adulthood, his calling to the ministry, training, and his launch into evangelistic work all over Britain, as well as his American years until his death at the age of eighty-seven in 1994. Leonard Ravenhill has left a tremendous legacy behind for us, but what bothers me is that it seems that he has almost been forgotten. It seems that many pastors today are not even interested in reading about a man like Leonard and are not interested in reading what he wrote or hearing what he preached. Today when I mention his name or his books, its like they stand there puzzled, not knowing who or what I am talking about. We have truly lost someone great in the passing of Leonard Ravenhill.

I highly recommend all tapes and books by Leonard Ravenhill. His writing and preaching made a deep impression upon me in my late teens and early twenties. The passion, fire, zeal, truth and conviction which was so manifest in his preaching witnessed powerfully with my my own heart encouraging me in my pursuit for the reality of God. He is one of several men who the Lord has powerfully used in my life and ministry. I have long desired to see a full biography on his life and now rejoice to see that Mack Tomlinson has accomplished such. Although not having read this testimony as yet I do highly recommend it.
